Joy is Coming

I had no intentions of moving again!! If you would have told me in May I would be moving 6 months later, I would have just stared at you or started crying….probably both! Moving so many times in 3 years is not for the faint of heart….and although most of the moves were my choice, this last one was unexpected, and definitely not on my to-do list. However, having a mice problem will help you reevaluate things real quick….

As I’m sitting in my chair just staring at these sticky notes….about ready to take them down, I am reminded God is good. He cares about every single detail of our lives, and nothing goes undone by him. This apartment that was barely lived in, that never got a dinner party thrown in it, or a house warming party, or any of the other experiences I wanted to start again, got something else! So many prayers were prayed in this apartment. So many prayers fill these walls. So many things restored, and some still waiting to be renewed. This apartment housed me in some of my hardest days! And although this apartment didn’t do exactly what I wanted it to do, it did exactly what it was supposed to do. For this time it was exactly what I needed. It wasn’t the season for all the other things. It was the season for healing. For digging up the roots. For being uncomfortable. For having to completely demolish what I once knew to make space to build something new. It was not for nothing, but 6 months ago I couldn’t have known that.

I have learned one thing in the last year….If you give the Lord your broken parts he will heal you. It might not look or feel like you want it to, but he will meet you where you are. If you ask the Lord to send you people to speak truth in your day, he will send armies. If you ask the Lord for divine encounters, he will leave you thirsting for more. If you ask for his presence to guide you, you will never be alone. God knows exactly what and who you need, and when you need it! We want to be settled so badly, but what if what we’re settling in isn’t meant to be forever. What if it’s just a season.

Let’s  look up and fix our eyes on the very thing that will settle our hearts the most. There is so much beauty around and we must not miss it!

“A person’s steps are established by the Lord, and he takes pleasure in his way. Though he falls, he will not be overwhelmed because the Lord supports him with his hand.” Psalm 37:23-24
